Leesburg Hauntings Oct 24 - Oct 25 2008
Yes, this was our 5th year as volunteers for the Leesburg Hauntings which supports the Loudoun Museum. Luckily the weather held out, although it looked like the monsoon might make it a wash-out on Saturday night. Both nights were moonless and I wondered if we would have any ghostly encounters since the likelihood of paranormal happenings are greater during a full moon (or just before or following). My husband H was the guide and I was the sweep. We took a couple of groups to 7 real haunted sites, 5 of which we were allowed entrance while on-site interpreters, dressed in old-fashioned attire, gave the history and told the ghostly tales. I was hoping for some personal experiences and was NOT disappointed. Nothing unusual happened on our tour on Friday night, BUT, we heard that at the Lynch House, which has Eliza, "the lady in white", doors were slamming and the on-site interpreters heard footsteps.

My husband H and I went for a week to Williamsburg the beginning of November 2008.  I was looking forward to trying a ghost walk and there were several to choose from.  We went on the one sponsored by Colonial Williamsburg which took the participants into some of the buildings. The ghost stories that were told in the buildings  were quite theatrical. but had nothing to do with the buildings or with Williamsburg itself.  If it weren't for the guide who told a couple of quick short paranormal happenings in Williamsburg, we would have been more disappointed then we were.  We had more fun doing our OWN ghost hunting after the tour.  The moon was out, and as we tried EVPs and taking photos, a strange mist began in one area, near the Courthouse.  It seemed odd.  We have yet to analyze all our pictures and EVP but are hopeful that we may have caught something.  We will update this article once that has been determined.  We also took photos when we went to the REAL Jamestown and the living history Jamestown.  If you get a chance, drive on the colonial parkway.  It was spectacular seeing all the trees parading their colors.  We feel confident that there is much more to investigate and anticipate another tootle to this area.

It was a cold, blustery day in January 2004, when my husband and I ventured out to a very old cemetery in the historic section of Leesburg. It was during the daylight ...a sunny afternoon...but the sun did little to warm us.....My husband felt that our ghost hunting should take place at night....but I felt that since it was so cold, we needed to harness any warmth the sun could render.... The cemetery itself, is confined within a beautiful old neighborhood and is situated close to a gorgeous old house, which is reputedly haunted, called the "Pink Lady". The cemetery is surrounded by a black iron fence...and during the winter months looks quite bleak....like everything else in the dead of winter.... Ah yes...the dead .. but in winter....we were certainly in the right place to visit them.... ..But who were the occupants of this place ?? The headstones were so well worn that is was impossible to read inscriptions of complete names, dates, or what dedications were inscribed on the stones... There was a stone rabbit that had lost its ears, sitting beside one of the headstones.. What was the story of the rabbit ? Would we ever know ? We had our recorder with us....and had to ask...... Who was there...or did they wish to communicate ? We were only in the cemetery for about 15 minutes.... and were fortunate to have 3 different voices captured on our digital recorder.... As my husband and I were discussing how cold it felt.... a raspy voice whispered "yes...it is cold"..... Then... a bit later someone was whispering "Annie....Annie " ! Who was Annie ? We saw no one when we were recording....Our final voice said something right before my husband started to speak... It was a woman...saying "Existence....not for me" .... and her voice was very sad... Who was the woman who spoke ?? Was it Annie .....or someone else ???? .... The mystery remains....but we intend to revisit soon, hoping to gain some insight on its occupants.... We wish them peace.
